Air Passenger Duty (APD) Tax

Exemption of APD charges for 12-15 year olds

Passengers aged 12-15 years are exempted from Air Passenger Duty (APD) when travelling in Economy Class. APD is a UK government tax applied to passengers travelling on flights departing from a UK airport.

This concerns all Air Mauritius flights and codeshare flights having an MK flight number departing from a UK airport.

Our online booking system cannot prevent application of this tax to 12-15 year olds due to supporting documents which must be submitted and manually checked in order to validate the exemption eligibility criteria.

Therefore, if you are eligible to this APD tax exemption and have purchased your ticket on our website, you can claim a refund by following the process below.

How to claim a refund of the APD tax?

A refund can be claimed anytime from date of ticket purchase up till one month after all the flights on your itinerary have been flown.
To claim your refund, please send a copy of your passport and flight details to [email protected]
Once your refund is validated, the card you used to settle payment online will be credited with the tax amount.

How to know if you have been charged the APD tax?
