Passenger Fee

A passenger fee is levied on passengers departing Mauritius on international flights when the origin of the journey is outside Mauritius or Rodrigues. This fee is levied for the purpose of promoting tourism and financing airport related services.

Travel originating from
Reunion, Madagascar, Seychelles, Comoros MUR 600 per Adult
MUR 300 per Child (above 2 years but below 12 years)

Other Destinations MUR 1400 per Adult
MUR 700 per Child (above 2 years but below 12 years)

Exemptions :
  • Journeys originating in Mauritius
  • Infants (below 2 years)
  • Involuntary Reroutings
  • Government Officials
  • Diplomats
  • Transits
Passengers in transit for less than 24 hours and holding onward reservation on the same aircraft or interlining at the airport are exempted provided they do not check out of the airport unless they are compelled to stay longer due to delay in the departure of the flight on which the onward booking is held whether due to Force Majeure or any technical reasons.

For departure from Mauritius before 01 June 2011, passengers holding a Mauritian passport and whose trip originally starts outside Mauritius or Rodrigues, may, on production of proof of payment of the Passenger Fee, be entitled to claim a refund of such fee from the Mauritius Revenue Authority within 12 months of the date of payment of the fee. For travel after 01 June 2011, no refund will be allowed.

Terminal Expansion Fee – from Mauritius

In the context of the expansion of terminal infrastructure at SSR International Airport, Mauritius, a Terminal Expansion Fee will be implemented on air tickets issued on/after 1st October 2010 for travel on/after 1st November 2010.

International departures from Mauritius only (except to destinations below) :

Adult EUR 11.32
Children (under 12 years) EUR 6.17

International departures from Mauritius to Reunion, Madagascar, Seychelles, Comores, Kenya and South Africa and
Transit/Transfer Passengers from Mauritius only (All international routes) :


Adult EUR 3.19
Children (under 12 years) EUR 1.65

Transit/transfer means passengers holding onward reservations on the same aircraft or interlining at the airport within 24 hours

Exemptions:
  • Infants (children under 2 years)
  • Government officials
  • Airline Crew on Duty
  • Naval, military or air force personnel stationed in or on official mission to Mauritius, their wives and dependents
  • Domestic Routes (e.g. Mauritius-Rodrigues and vv.)
