Air Mauritius Flying High With 2nd Quarter Profits

Air Mauritius have a good 2nd quarter profit

Air Mauritius has posted EUR13.6 million 2nd Quarter profits (FY 2016-17), showing a slight improvement over last year’s profit in the same quarter. These results highlight the ongoing turnaround in the financial situation of the company started last year.

Total passengers carried continued to increase. During the quarter passengers increased by 8.9% to 416,485 as compared to 382,604 passengers carried during the quarter ended 30 September 2015. The number of seats offered increased by 5.4% and the Passenger Load Factor increased from 80.4% to 83.7%.

With the turnaround now well underway, Air Mauritius can now pursue its development goals. Our focus is on consolidating the network after opening services to three new destinations and adding a new ATR42 to our fleet during the first semester.

Our service to Guangzhou was launched with a strong momentum and a second weekly flight is scheduled for next year. We are consolidating our investments on the service to Dar-es-Salaam and Maputo with enhanced promotional campaigns in Africa, Asia and the Indian Ocean.

The Air Corridor, supported by the Mauritius and Singapore hubs, posted encouraging results at all levels.
