Beijing in six visa-free days

Beijing is on the up. This year, host to the International Capital Conference, China’s capital is growing in popularity ‘as a meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions (MICE) destination’.

So says this interesting piece over on Euro News.

‘It has already attracted global and regional events – linking stakeholders from all over the world at APEC, The Global Mobile Internet Conference, and the 8th Clean Energy Ministerial’, it says.

‘Home to multinational companies and cutting-edge architecture, the modern metropolis is a bridge between rich Chinese culture dating back over three millennia and 21st century innovation.’

Have you been?

Visa-free visit

Now, a new policy allows ‘144-Hour Visa-Free Transit’ to ‘certain en-route travellers to stay up to six days in Beijing, and nearby Tianjin and Hebei’.

The piece goes on to describe the tour on offer.

‘In under a week, visitors can take in Beijing opera, museums and the Great Wall of China, learn to make dumplings, and enjoy Tax-Free Shopping from the Pearl Market to Wangfujing Street and beyond.’

In brief, day one takes in Dongcheng, ‘East City’; day two, the Central Business District in South Chaoyang; day three, the Olympic Green, and Asian Games Village; day four, sightseeing by train to Tianjin and Hebei; day five, local sightseeing – including the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace; and, finally, day six, the 798 Art Zone: ‘perfect for a half-day of exploration’.

Sound good?
