Breathtaking views for breakfast in Mauritius

We’ve written before about the island’s best sunset views, but where can you enjoy a lovely morning lookout over breakfast? We highlight some of the best places to have breakfast in Mauritius.

LUX* Le Morne

Breakfast in Mauritius - LUX* Le Morne

Down in the southwestern corner of Mauritius, LUX* Le Morne is dominated by the imposing backdrop of Le Morne Brabant mountain. For the ultimate tropical start to the day, opt for a private breakfast on the beach right on the water’s edge. Sheltered by the mountain, and away from all the activity on the sand, you can enjoy freshly roasted organic coffee, fresh fruits, cheese, ham and a selection of pastries – with no interruptions other than the waves lapping your toes.

Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita

Four Seasons - Mauritius

The three waterfront pavilions of Four Seasons’ Beau Champ restaurant are perfectly placed for early morning views out across the barachois to the Indian Ocean lagoon beyond. And with an extensive breakfast menu featuring produce from the hotel’s own farms, plus exotic Chef’s specialities like sea urchin scrambled eggs and Madagascar crab benedict, your views come with a side of genuine culinary flair.

One&Only Le St Géran

One & Only le st geran - breakfast

With twin views over the pool and ocean and surrounded by the lush tropical planting of the hotel gardens, elegant La Terrasse restaurant at One&Only Le St Géran offers a calming blue and green palette in which to enjoy breakfast. A sumptuous buffet featuring eggs cooked to order, fresh waffles and crepes, smoothies, yoghurts and freshly brewed Mauritian tea is on offer each day – if you can tear yourself away from gazing at the painterly views.

Le Méridien Ile Maurice

The Nirvana area of Le Méridien Ile Maurice is located in an exclusive wing of the hotel, with stunning views over the shiny blue waters of the Indian Ocean or the mountain range behind. La Faya restaurant makes the most of this idyllic setting, with its raised open air terrace overlooking the shoreline. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy a delicious Mauritian breakfast of smoked marlin omelette, Creole-style poached eggs, or a simple banana croissant.

Veranda Paul & Virginie

Up in Grande Gaube, Veranda Paul & Virginie’s main restaurant Ile de France is undoubtedly the resort’s top spot for breakfast with a view. Directly overlooking the northern islets of Gunner’s Quoin, Flat Island, Gabriel Island and Pigeon Rock, you may even be rewarded with a majestic white-tailed tropicbird sighting as you sip your coffee. The morning buffet features a wide range of choices, from full English breakfasts and Mauritian fried dishes like ‘gateaux piments’ to delicious French pastries, crepes and waffles. Couples celebrating a special occasion can also request breakfast in the gazebo overlooking the ocean.
