Everything you need to know about booking a luxury holiday

If you’ve been keeping up with the six-week Dreams Made in Mauritius competition on our Facebook page, a vacation is likely at the forefront of your mind right now. So we’ve put together some useful tips for booking a luxury holiday, to help you create your very own trip of a lifetime…

Book as far in advance as possible

Luxury holidays are no different – you’ll have a far wider choice of flights and accommodation, not to mention the chance to snap up early bird discounts and offers, if you book your holiday as early as you can.

Consider the all-inclusive option

Some people get a bit sniffy at the thought of all-inclusive resorts, but these can often work out to be better value in the long run, even if the upfront costs are more expensive. It all depends on the type of holiday you want. All-inclusive options are ideal if you’re simply in search of relaxation and pampering at a luxury resort, and there are plenty of tempting deals to choose from in Mauritius. On the other hand, if you want to spend most of your time exploring the island and sampling the food at local restaurants, then all-inclusive may not be for you.

Think about shortening your trip

It sounds like a crazy idea, but bear with us. Because if you’re looking for genuine all-out luxury, you might find that six or seven nights in the resort you really want to go to will ultimately be more fulfilling than ten nights or two weeks in your not-quite-as-special second choice. It’s all about priorities – and if luxury is more important to you than longevity, this could be the ideal solution.

Book a two-centre trip

Alternatively, why not combine two resorts in one trip? Not only does this give you a great opportunity to see different sides of your destination, it’s also the obvious answer when you simply cannot decide on where to stay – and with all the luxury accommodation choices available in Mauritius, that can be a very real problem!

Think carefully about your needs

If you’re booking a long-awaited luxury holiday, think very carefully about what you really want and make sure your choice of accommodation can live up to your expectations. If you’re after a quiet, romantic honeymoon and the hotel places extra-special emphasis on its kid’s club, take note. Similarly, remember to carefully research your resort’s location, especially if getting away from it all – or being in the thick of things – is high on your agenda.
