Lazy afternoons of dolphin watching, snorkelling, and barbecue-ing on the beach were all in a days work for Marie Claire journalist Eirwin Oxley Green, who recently visited Mauritius to see what else the island can offer beyond the standard beach and sunlounger fare.

During the trip, Eirwin spent plenty of time away from the water too, with a street food-sampling visit to Port Louis market and an insight into the local tea industry at the Bois Cheri plantation – all topped off with a luxurious stay at the Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa in Balaclava on the north east coast.
