Our little Indian Ocean paradise beat off stiff competition from the Caribbean, USA and Sri Lanka – holder of the title for the last eight years – to become the most sought-after destination for those looking to tie the knot in an exotic locale.

Aside from the obvious appeal of a blissful tropical idyll, the simplification of local regulations has made it easier for couples to plan their nuptials in Mauritius, according to a report in the UK’s Daily Mail.
