Mauritius’ SSR International Airport: Business travel

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolan International Airport recently won two accolades at the Airport Service Quality Awards (ASQ): Best Airport by Region (Africa) and Best Improvement by Region (Africa). Part of the airport’s appeal is how it caters for business travellers and its services and facilities. Here are a few highlights.

Gold card-carrying Kestrelflyers can also take advantage of the Amédée Maingard lounge, spread across two levels and featuring a range of services and amenities including a bar and buffet zone, business centre, showers, flat-screen TVs with international channels, a kid’s corner and changing facilities for babies. A further ATOL lounge is available for non-gold card members, which also has a dining area along with international newspapers and magazines.

Business travellers – and everybody else – can also benefit from free and fast broadband internet across the airport. Use your own wi-fi enabled device or visit one of the free-to-use workstations available throughout the terminal and take the opportunity to catch up on work or stay in touch with those back home.

Shopping, dining and services

Foreign exchange banking services and a dedicated custom counter for tax refunds are both available in the check-in hall, along with cafés and restaurants in the public access zone which can be enjoyed by departing passengers and their family and friends.

Post check-in, an array of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants line the walkway en route to the boarding lounge, so passengers can relax and make the most of their final hours in Mauritius. Keen shoppers can browse a wide range of duty free products including alcohol, cosmetics, tobacco, perfumes, confectionery and Mauritius souvenirs, alongside more specialist venues selling designer fashion and jewellery. There’s also a large bookstore and specialist Mauritian artisanal outlets for those seeking some last-minute gifts to take home.
