We’ll just come out and say it. We’ve fallen in love with the incredible photography of Paul Choy, a documentary photographer, who captures Mauritius brilliantly.

Choy manages to bring the island to life in all its vivid colour and his individual style at capturing Mauritian people and places is both refreshing and a masterclass in photojournalism.

Recently we’ve enjoyed Choy’s Faces of Mauritius project, his exploration of Mauritius heritage, and his coverage of PORLWI 2016.

However, the rest of his work (from articles and reviews to very topical photojournalism on refugees) is absolutely must-see material and incredibly moving and thought-provoking.

Choy is based in Mauritius and says he never planned on becoming a photographer, but we’re very glad he did, Mauritius and the rest of the world is a richer place for it.
