Air Mauritius pursues its fleet expansion programme to cater for the growing tourist market to Mauritius. A second Airbus A330-200, named “Nénuphar” after the famous aquatic plant found in abundance at the SSR Botanic Gardens at Pamplemousses, joined the fleet on 29 October 2009.Together with the first A330-200 delivered in 2007, “Trochetia” named after the national endemic flower of the Republic of Mauritius, the aircraft will improve our regional offer and will be mainly deployed on medium haul routes in India, Asia and Australia.

While sharing some common features with the four-engined A340 (same cockpit and handling characteristics) the A330-200 is a wide body twin-engine aircraft with a major advantage of burning less fuel. It can operate on medium to long range routes with a maximum passenger load as well as freight capacity of up to 27 standard LD 3 cargo containers.

The A330-200 is the first Air Mauritius aircraft equipped with the new lie flat business class seats and with the new two-class configuration which will be the new product line of the whole Air Mauritius wide-bodied fleet. The A330-200 offers 24 business class lie flat seats and 251 economy seats. Passengers in both classes will also enjoy state-of-the art in-flight entertainment system, a truly huge AVOD - Audio & Video On Demand - menu offering of 31 digital-quality, multi-language video options together with a library of 60 CDs with play-list functionality.

The cabin bears the design concept of Air Mauritius new Corporate Identity guidelines. It displays colours inspired from the tropical features, the fauna and flora of Mauritius impressing an ambience of genuine Mauritian hospitality to our passengers.

In the front cabin, the business class lie-flat cocoon seats are laid out in 2-2-2 configuration at 60-inch pitch. The seat features state-of-the-art technology and individual comfort at fingertip control with massage options, inflatable lumbar pouches, retractable privacy panel and other characteristics designed for you to enjoy a relaxing flight.
