It’s that time of the year again, 12^th March, where Mauritians raise the ‘quadricolour’ flag high in the sky to celebrate the 54^th Independence Anniversary and 30^th Anniversary of the Republic of Mauritius. On this National Day, pride and enthusiasm fill our hearts when the Mauritius Flag is hoisted while singing the National Anthem.

Whether you live in Mauritius or you are part of the Mauritian Diaspora, it’s a special day to celebrate and promote our multicultural heritage. Here’s a handful of favourite activities we would like to share:

• Display the flying colours of our Mauritian Flag
• Enjoy the local flavours of our Mauritian cuisine with some delicious ‘dhollpuri’ or sweet ‘napolitaine’
• Celebrate at one of our Mauritius Beach Holiday Resorts with themed buffet and traditional ‘Sega’ dance

Air Mauritius is proud to be serving our wonderful nation and to celebrate Independence Day, a campaign, under the theme of ‘Proudly Mauritian’, was launched along with a train wrapping ceremony in collaboration with Metro Express Mauritius. Incoming passengers were welcomed by our Cabin Crew members with an Air Mauritius complimentary sanitary kit.
