Lesser known side of Mauritius highlighted by Guide du Routard

The popular French travel publishers Guide du Routard recently wrote an in-depth feature on the south of Mauritius with an emphasis on some of the less visited highlights of the southern region.

Guide du Routard

Among the attractions mentioned is the beautiful Valley of Ferney; a protected area where thanks to conservation efforts it’s possible to walk along specially designated trails to spot the rare Mauritian kestrel, along with other endemic species like the fruit bat and the paille en queue, or white-tailed tropicbird.

Also featured is the rugged southern coast, which is best visited by taking a road trip from Le Morne to Souillac, or reverse. All along this stretch of coast, you’ll be rewarded with views of colourful fishing villages on one side and a mix of rocky coves, blowholes, cliffs and crashing waves on the other.

Check out Guide du Routard’s feature for more things to see and do when visiting the south, and don’t forget to visit Air Mauritius Holidays when the time comes to book your own adventure to Mauritius.

And don’t forget, you can keep up to date with all the latest Air Mauritius news and offers by following us on Facebook and Twitter.
