Mauritius: A creative spirit

An article in The Telegraph describes Mauritius as “Indian Ocean idyll reimagined”, with its mix of relaxed tourism, thriving industries and creative energy.

For the writer, it is a destination where “the breeze is sweet and warm. This is an island of whispering sugar-cane fields, echoes of corsairs, and days lived out in the shade of coconut trees.”

However, they also say: “what makes Mauritius stand out from some other specks in the Indian Ocean lies beyond its hotels and beaches.”

“There is a thriving textile industry, jewelry and watch production, free-trade zones and financial services. In fact it’s one of the most competitive economies in Africa, with around three per cent growth, year on year.”
