New Mauritian Cookbook Out Now

We are happy to share the news that Mauritian chef, Selina Periampillai, has released her debut cookbook to be released on 2nd May (Bloomsbury) called “The Island Kitchen”. It’s already reached the number one spot in African cookery on Amazon and been reviewed by Nigella Lawson.

Cookbook

Periampillai runs Mauritian supper clubs, hosts pop ups, teaches cookery classes, demos the island cuisine at food festivals and runs private catering in her company Taste Mauritius. Selina has written for Air Mauritius, Jamie Oliver.com and BBC Good Food Magazine among many others.

Island Kitchen

The new cookbook has 80 family and local recipes from Mauritius and the surrounding Indian Ocean Islands including Seychelles, Reunion, Rodrigues, Maldives and Madagascar. With 80 simple recipes from weekday suppers to family feasts and decadent desserts it will transport you to these islands in the comfort of your home kitchen.

Receipe

What can you expect? Think favourites like gateaux piment and dhal puri (popular Mauritian street food), creamy coconut Tuna curry from the fishing coasts of Maldives, pork and lime dumplings (bouchons) from Reunion island and Creole style rice from Seychelles infused in spices, turmeric and peppers. Don’t forget rum raisin bread and butter pudding or her favourite pineapple upside down cake with caramel and cardamom clotted cream… salivating yet?
