Ocean walking in Mauritius
There’s so much to do in Mauritius that it is always interesting to find out what really stands out for visitors coming to the island.
On a recent trip to Mauritius, Australian writer Natasha Coutinho picked ocean walking as a highlight, which involves strapping weights to your body and a glass globe to your head, so you can see underwater life. “It was scary at first but soon turned out to be a lot of fun,” said Natasha in an article for Pune Mirror.
It’s not the first time Coutinho has been to Mauritius and she obviously feels close to it. “I love its orange-tinted skies, lush wilderness and the warmth of the locals,” she says. “I am a beach bum, born in Perth which sits on the Indian Ocean, so in a way it felt like going home. I love the clear waters of the ocean. In Mauritius the shallow water is so clear that the ocean feels like your own swimming pool.”
On land, Natasha also picks out yoga retreats, spas, the variety of friendly local bars and French connections the island has as other experiences visitors can enjoy.
