Rodrigues International Kitesurf Festival 2014

Rodrigues Kitesurf Festival

After the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Rodrigues International Kitesurf Festival returns at the end of June 2014. Opening with a fireworks ceremony, the festival continues with five days of world-class kiting, parties, DJs, dancing, beach soccer games and other events, culminating in an awards ceremony and cocktails on the final evening.

From 25–29 June, the Kite Festival will invite riders to kite at the best surfing spots in the south of Rodrigues island – itself one of the world’s premier kitesurfing destinations –and discover the incredible conditions of these beautiful Indian Ocean lagoons for themselves. The festival is open to all levels of kiters, so you certainly don’t need to be a champion to take part – anyone with average kiting skills can enjoy these remarkable down winders and work on improving their technique. Minimum requirements include the ability to ride upwind easily, ride among numerous other kiters, and knowledge of priority rules.

Test your skills

The festival is organised as a competition at Mourouk beach. Riders who wish to compete will have the chance to test their skills against fellow riders, over a few friendly days of racing and freestyle. And if you’re an amateur, this is a great opportunity to get insider tips from the pros. As non-competitive riders, they’ll only be performing kiting demonstrations to showcase their exceptional skills, but will also be assessing the best of the amateur riders.

Want to take part? Entry fee per participant to the festival is 150 Euros (for visitors) or 100 Euros (for local entrants), which includes a Kite Festival souvenir t-shirt, your entrant number, a BBQ, non-alchoholic drink, souvenir and access to parties.
