Shangri-La Le Toussrok Resort and Spa was officially opened at a gala event on 11^th December in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, Sir Anerood Jugnauth and other dignitaries. In a night celebrating Mauritian culture, the glittering inauguration witnessed a specially commissioned performance, staged by more than 30 artists, in front of 580 guests.

Guests were able to experience a wide range of festivities with circus style performances, and imaginary creatures popping up everywhere. A light show culminating in a fireworks display dramatically marked the rebirth of a Mauritian icon.

The evening concluded with the internationally acclaimed music label Hed Kandi with superstar DJ Carl and Peyton, resident vocalist for Blue Marlin, Ibiza, performing Gospel & Disco House music on the beach, where guests revelled until late hours.
