The best brunches in Mauritius

The tradition of brunch in Mauritius might not be as widespread as somewhere like the USA, but if you’re after a lazy, lingering mid-morning meal at the weekend, we can point you in the right direction. Here’s our pick of the best brunches in Mauritius.

C Beach Club

Best brunch im Mauritius - C beach Club

Adjacent to the Heritage Le Telfair and Heritage Awali hotels, the trendy C Beach Club holds a regular Sunday brunch on the first Sunday of every month. Often featuring softly inspired house music by its resident DJ David Jay, the lifestyle hotspot is a relaxed place to chill out and watch the world go by, with plenty of sheltered day beds, cabanas and bean bags to fall into when you can’t mange another morsel.

Diners can choose from an extensive buffet selection of salads, Carpaccio, cold cuts, assorted cheese and breads, grilled meats and indulgent desserts but they can also choose from a rotisserie and carving stations.  There’s even a ‘Make your own Burger’ station and vegetarians have a large array of dishes to choose from.

The cherry on top of the C Beach Club’s Sunday brunch is the leisure offer with a kitesurfing school onsite and non-motorised nautical sports, beach volley, bocci ball, tennis volley and Ping-Pong.

Baystone Boutique Hotel & Spa

Château Mon Désir

At exactly the same time, another unhurried Sunday brunch takes place at the elegant Château Mon Désir at the Maritim Resort & Spa in Balaclava. Heralded as one of the best restaurants in Mauritius, this colonial-style mansion pays homage to the island’s past as a major sugar producer, with polished hardwood floors, exquisite décor and covered verandahs. Choose items from the sumptuous buffet or opt for a specific à la carte choice from the menu. Le Off

Up in the north of Mauritius, Le Off’s poolside Sunday brunch starts at noon and continues throughout the afternoon. The menu features a classic Eggs Benedict, club and veggie sandwiches, home made burgers and summer salads with roast chicken and crispy bacon – but do save room for something sweet: after all, one of the specialities here is a Nutella Pizza. Great for familes, the venue has its own ‘Little Off’ corner where kids can run around and play on the climbing frame and slide.
