The World Travel Awards: Indian Ocean

World travel awards

Voting for the nominees in the world’s most prestigious travel awards is now in full swing, with a substantial number of Mauritian venues vying for the top spot in various categories within the Indian Ocean region.

The influential World Travel Awards will see a number of gala ceremonies take place over the next few months, followed by a final round of voting in October, in which all regional winners will compete head to head.

The annual programme – which celebrates its 21st anniversary this year – will be looking to beat its impressive tally of 500,000 votes from the 2013 awards, cast by travel professionals and luxury travel consumers.

Some of the most impressive nominees include Le Touessrok, One&Only Le Saint Geran and The Oberoi Mauritius, all of whom are in the running for the Indian Ocean’s Leading Resort award. More specific categories include the Indian Ocean’s Leading Family Resort – with Dinarobin Hotel Golf & Spa, Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, Le Touessrok and Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa in the line-up of nominees – and the Indian Ocean’s Leading New Resort, with a nomination for the fabulous Zilwa Attitude hotel which opened to much acclaim last year.

Voting in the awards is simple: all you have to do is visit the Indian Ocean section of the World Travel Awards website, register your details and select the categories you wish to vote for, and cast your vote by the 17th May. The Grand Final Gala Ceremony is likely to take place shortly after final voting closes on the 26th October 2014.
