Watch the Mauritius Solar Eclipse: 1st September

An exciting solar eclipse will be visible in Mauritius on Thursday 1st September as the sun’s second solar coverup of the year makes a path crossing south-central Africa and northern Madagascar.

Make sure you don't miss the solar eclipse today

To see the path of the eclipse - which will last for around 3 minutes - have a look at this video here. The partial eclipse is due to begin at approximately 12:28 (Mauritian Time), with the maximum eclipse visible at 14:13 and it fading out to end at 15:44. The maximum obscuration (cover up) in Mauritius is expected to be around 89.15%. For viewers it will be noticeably dark in Mauritius.

This is a fantastic chance to see an annular (or "ring") solar eclipse, so keep your (protected) eyes to the skies.
