Mauritius is fast becoming an even more attractive destination for investors following the introduction of the air corridor between Mauritius and Singapore.

According an article by JLL, a professional services and investment management firm: “There’s a growing shift towards the Asian market; better air connections between the islands of the Indian Ocean and the rest of Asia are set to mark a new chapter in higher end tourism.”

JLL reports that from 2009 to 2015, Asian arrivals to Mauritius have more than doubled. JLL’s Head of Hotels & Hospitality in Sub Saharan Africa, Xander Nijnens, said: “We are seeing increased investment in the region due to the high demand growth in the Indian Ocean resort sector and the buoyant hotel trading outlook. Following the success of hotel investment in the Maldives, investors are looking to Mauritius.”

Nijnens added: “Tourism demand is being driven by the safe and secure status of the Indian Ocean region when compared to other luxury resort destinations.”
