Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in South Africa.
If you are connecting to a domestic flight, your baggage can be labelled to your final destination, but clearance must still be completed at the first airport of entry.

This does not apply to the baggage of transit passengers travelling to destinations outside South Africa, provided they remain in the transit area.
