Celebrating New Year Mauritian style
Traditionally, New Year is a huge celebration for Mauritius, with an abundance of firecracker parties and sega dance parties. Then, on New Year's Day itself, calm descends for what is a very important day of togetherness for Mauritian families, with celebrations and gatherings often lasting up to a week.
