PREPARE FOR YOUR TRAVEL

Find out what to expect and prepare for your next trip.

1. Check that you are not presenting flu-like symptoms (fever, cough and sneezing) prior to travel, in which case you will not be allowed to board the aircraft.

2. We recommend that you are acquainted with all requirements issued by the health authorities applicable to your destination. You may obtain more information from the respective embassies and consulates. Additional documents may be required for some destinations, please consult requirements by destination in the sections below.

3. To facilitate physical distancing measures, you will be required to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to departure. With all the precautionary measures now in place, the process will be longer, although we will strive to make it seamless for you. 

4. You will be required to wear your own mask at all times at the airport and onboard, as this is mandatory for travel. Please ensure that you carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your flight, from the time you reach the airport to the time you leave the airport at destination.  Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours. Read more on specific sanitary measures enforced by some countries in the sections below.

5. We encourage you to travel with a hand sanitiser in quantities of 100ml or less for use throughout your journey.

6. To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your Cabin Baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as personal laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items. 

7. We encourage you to consume a meal before the flight, and to bring your own water bottle for refill. You may also carry some dry snacks for your consumption on board.  However, your food items will neither be stored nor be reheated by cabin crew on board.

Please find below our guidelines on the specific measures in place at selected destinations. You are encouraged to consult this section regularly for any updates.

General notes

  • Only Mauritian nationals and travellers holding a valid Mauritian resident permit are eligible to travel on repatriation flights to Mauritius. Other travellers wishing to travel for specific purposes are advised to contact the Mauritian Embassy or Consulate of their respective region.
  • Please check in at the airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Only passengers with a valid ticket will be allowed to check in. 
  • Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers with special needs can be accompanied inside the departure area.

Travel exigencies and required documents

Kindly check that you have complied with all mandatory visa and travel documents before travelling. Additional documents will be required as follows:

  • Passengers must take an appointment at any recognized medical institution to do a COVID-19 PCR test within 5 days of travelling and should submit the results of the test (PCR Covid-19 Certificate) within 48 hours to the respective Embassies or Consulates so that it may be vetted by the relevant authorities
  • Only passengers whose tests are negative will be allowed to board repatriation flights to Mauritius.
  • Passengers should also fill in and sign the annexed undertaking form (Quarantine Undertaking Form Arrival in Mauritius) that they agree to be quarantined upon their arrival in Mauritius, as directed by the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Mauritius. Passengers must have the completed and signed undertaking form with them at all times prior to departure, and show it to the health authorities as and when requested. 

Sanitary measures

It is mandatory for all passengers to wear a face mask. It should be worn from the time they reach the airport of departure to the time they leave SSR International airport in Mauritius which includes boarding, the entire flight and deplaning. Please note that passengers not complying with these sanitary measures imposed by the relevant authorities will be denied boarding.

From Paris and Réunion

  • It is mandatory for all passengers above 11 years old to wear only surgical masks from the time they reach the airport of departure to the time they arrive in Mauritius and leave SSR International airport which includes boarding, the entire flight and deplaning. Passengers not complying with these sanitary measures imposed by the relevant authorities will be denied boarding.
  • Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours. Please ensure that you carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your flight, from the time you reach the airport to the time you leave the airport at destination.

To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your Cabin Baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as personal laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items.

Sanitary hygiene on board

  • You are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board.
  • Used masks should not be left in seat pockets, on the seats and anywhere else in the cabin. Same should be disposed of in lavatory waste bins only or be kept in your bag.

Baggage Allowance

  • Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket.
  • Should you be a Kestrelflyer Gold or Silver cardholder, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20kgs on presentation of your valid membership card.
  • Note that no single baggage weighing more than 32 Kgs will be accepted at check in.

Transit and Connecting Flights

If you are in transit and travelling onward, please ensure that your luggage is checked-in to your final destination as you will not be able to exit the transit area.

Pets

Arrival

All travellers will be subjected to medical screening for Covid-19 upon entering Mauritius and will be quarantined for a minimum period of 14 days.   

Eligibility for travel

Mauritian nationals and residents, as well as tourists travelling for long stays are eligible to travel to Mauritius as from 01 October 2020.

Travel requirements for passengers travelling to Mauritius

  • Passengers travelling to Mauritius will have to fulfil all travel exigencies before their flight.
  • All prospective passengers travelling to Mauritius for the month of October 2020 must possess the following documents:
  1. A certificate of a negative PCR test administered not more than 7 days prior to the date of embarkation. Only passengers whose tests are negative will be allowed to board flights to Mauritius. The original certificate must be presented at check-in, boarding and upon arrival.
  2. A valid air ticket to Mauritius.  It is important that you provide your email address for us to communicate with you.
  3. A proof of purchase of a travel package including accommodation, on a full board basis, at a designated hotel for a mandatory 14-day in room quarantine.

Quarantine Accommodation Package

  • Upon arrival in Mauritius, a 14-day in room quarantine will be mandatory in a hotel approved by the authorities.
  • A Quarantine Accommodation Package is available online for passengers which would include, among others, accommodation on a full board basis for the 14 day in-room quarantine.

Attention is drawn to the fact that:

(a) Any arriving passenger will have to undergo PCR tests on day of arrival, on day 7 and on day 14 following arrival.
(b) If a PCR test reveals that a person is COVID-19 positive, he/she shall be transferred to a public medical institution for treatment.


At the airport of departure

  • With all the health safety and precautionary measures in place, the check-in and boarding processes are expected to take longer. Passengers are therefore advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to their scheduled flight departure time.
  • It is mandatory for all passengers above 11 years old to wear only surgical masks. Please ensure that you carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your flight, from the time you reach the airport of departure to the time you leave SSR international airport. Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours.
  • Passengers will also be subject to temperature checks at the airport.


Baggage

Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket.

  • Cabin baggage is limited to one piece weighing not more than 7 kg.
  • Note that no single baggage weighing more than 32 kg will be accepted at check in.
  • Should you be a Kestrelflyer Gold or Silver cardholder, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20 kg on presentation of your membership card.

Hygiene protocol on board

Passengers are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board.

  • Used masks should not be left in seat pockets, on the seats or anywhere else in the cabin. Same should be disposed of in the lavatory waste bins only, or be kept in your bag.

COVID-19 Protocol in Mauritius

Air Mauritius wishes to reassure its passengers and the public in general that the company fully complies with the COVID-19 protocol in force in Mauritius and has implemented strict sanitary measures accordingly at all touch points.

General notes

  • Passengers with flu-like symptoms (fever, cough and sneezing) prior to travel, will not be allowed to board the aircraft.
  • Please check-in at the Domestic Terminal of SSR International airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Only passengers with a valid ticket will be allowed within the departure area using door 2.
  • Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers with special needs can be accompanied inside the departure area.

Sanitary measures

  • To facilitate physical distancing measures, you will be required to arrive at the airport three hours prior to departure. With all the precautionary measures now in place, the check in process will be longer, although we will strive to make it seamless for you.
  • It is mandatory for all passengers to wear a mask from the time they reach SSR International airport, Mauritius, to the time they leave Plaine Corail airport at destination which includes boarding, the entire flight and deplaning. Passengers not complying with these sanitary measures imposed by the relevant authorities will be denied boarding. Please ensure to carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your flight.

Sanitary hygiene on board

  • You are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board. Kindly dispose of used surgical masks in the lavatory bin or keep them in your own bag.
  • We encourage you to travel with a hand sanitiser in quantities of 100ml or less for use throughout your journey.
  • To minimise interaction on board, the regular inflight meal service has been reviewed in these exceptional times and replaced by light snacks and cold drinks.

Baggage Allowance

To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your Cabin Baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as personal laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items. The total allowable number of pieces per person will be one, with a weight not exceeding 5 kg.

Due to weight limitations on ATR-72 aircraft, the additional baggage allowance of 8 Kgs to Kestrelflyer Gold card holders & 5 Kgs to Kestrelflyer Silver card holders does not apply on flights to / from Rodrigues until further notice.

  • Travellers whose final destination is Madagascar will be required to fill in the enclosed letter of engagement (Lettre D'engagement Madagascar) prior arrival in Madagascar.

Travel requirements and required documents 

Kindly check that you have complied with all mandatory visa and travel documents for your travel. Additional documents will be required as follows:

  • You are required to submit a Declaration on Honour where you state that you do not have symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19). The form can be downloaded at  http://www.reunion.gouv.fr/IMG/pdf/20200721_declarationsurl_honneur-2.pdf and must be presented at Check-in at SSR International airport and upon arrival in Reunion.
  • All travellers must provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test carried out within 72 hours before boarding. This negative result is mandatory and will be requested at check-in.
  • Travelers whose final destination is Reunion Island must present a completed health form at Check-in. The form should be filled online at https://suivi.arslareunion-covid19.re. The traveler then will receive an SMS or an email inviting them to download their receipt 48 hours before flight departure. The receipt can be downloaded on mobile phone or printed and must be presented to our check-in staff.

    • If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of the European Union (EU) you must produce a sworn statement and eventually a travel document at check-in at SSR International Airport.

    Eligibility for travel

    Travel requirements

    Kindly check that you have complied with all mandatory visa and travel documents for your travel.

    • The Indian Government requires that all travelers submit a Self-Declaration form on the online portal www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel.A printed copy must be presented to the Check-in Officer at SSR International Airport and to the airport health staff upon arrival.
    • You are also required to download the application Aarogya Setu on your personal device. For more information kindly consult the following link https://aarogyasetu.gov.in/ 
    • Note that a mandatory institutional quarantine of 7 days at the cost of travelers, followed by 7 days isolation at home with self-monitoring of health is imposed by the Indian authorities. However, travelers may apply for exemption from quarantine by submitting a COVID 19 negative PCR test at least 96 hours before the flight. The PCR test should be uploaded at https://www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/covid-19-exemption-international-passenger

    The certificate of a negative COVID 19 PCR test can also be presented on arrival in India, or done on arrival at Mumbai Airport for a fee. A negative COVID 19 PCR test result should allow you to take a connecting domestic flight. 

    At SSR International Airport/Departure

    Please check in at SSR International airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Only passengers with a valid ticket will be allowed within Hall B of the departure area using door 14.

    Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers with special needs can be accompanied inside the departure area.

    It is mandatory for all passengers wear a surgical mask from the time they reach SSR International airport to the time they leave the airport at destination which includes boarding, during the entire flight and at deplaning. Please note that passengers not complying with these sanitary measures imposed by the relevant authorities will be denied boarding. Two surgical masks and one face shield will be handed over to you at check-in.

    Depending on aircraft loads you may be allocated a middle seat in which case you will be required to wear a wrap-around gown before boarding the aircraft and during the entire flight as per the requirements of Indian Authorities. One wrap-around gown will be handed over to you and you are requested to dispose of same after you disembark.

    Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket. Cabin baggage is limited to one piece weighing not more than 7 kg. Note that no single baggage weighing more than 32 Kg will be accepted at check in.

    Should you be a Gold or Silver Kestrelflyer, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20 kg on presentation of your valid membership card.

    Hand sanitizers are available on board upon request.


    Arrival

    All passengers will be subject to a medical screening upon arrival and any passenger found to be symptomatic shall be immediately isolated and taken to medical facility as per the health protocol in India.
