TRAVEL INFORMATION 

1. Check that you are not presenting flu-like symptoms (fever, cough and sneezing) prior to travel, in which case you will not be allowed to board the aircraft.

2. We recommend that you are acquainted with all requirements issued by the health authorities applicable to your destination. You may obtain more information from the respective embassies and consulates. Additional documents may be required for some destinations, please consult requirements by destination in the sections below.

3. You will be required to arrive at the SSR International airport at least three hours prior to departure. With all the precautionary measures now in place, the process will be longer, although we will strive to make it seamless for you. 

4. You will be required to wear your own mask at all times at the airport and onboard, as this is mandatory for travel. Please ensure that you carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your flight, from the time you reach the airport to the time you leave the airport at destination.  Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours. Read more on specific sanitary measures enforced by some countries in the sections below.

5. We encourage you to travel with a hand sanitiser in quantities of 100ml or less for use throughout your journey.

6. To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your Cabin Baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as personal laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items. 

7. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, live animals will NOT be accepted as checked luggage for travel into Mauritius. All live animals for travel into Mauritius must be shipped as CARGO, and you must hold an appropriate import permit from the local authorities. Visitors to Mauritius must have a COVID-19 insurance cover to enter Mauritius.
This applies to both vaccinated and un-vaccinated visitors. You must buy such insurance after you have bought your flight ticket and prior to your travel to Mauritius.

Opening of borders

Mauritius borders are open as from 1st October 2021. Different requirements will apply for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers. For more information, please visit  www.mauritiusnow.com  

From 4 December 2021, all passengers (vaccinated and non-vaccinated) travelling from Reunion to Mauritius, must present a compelling reason to travel. The list of compelling reasons is available here.

Travel Requirements

Passengers travelling to Mauritius will have to fulfil all travel exigencies before their flight.

All passengers (including children and infants) travelling to Mauritius must possess the following documents:

1. As from 01st October 2021 and onwards, all travellers must present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours from the last point of embarkation.


For travellers from India, only PCR tests conducted at laboratories approved by the Mauritian authorities are accepted.  The approved ‘List of Covid-19 Testing Labs’ can be obtained on the following website: https://www.icmr.gov.in/ .  Only a negative RT-PCR test report with QR Code will be accepted. 

2. A valid air ticket to Mauritius.  It is important that you provide your email address and
mobile number for us to communicate with you.

3. A Proof of vaccination for fully vaccinated travellers

4. As from 1st October 2021:

Vaccinated travellers

  • Vaccinated travellers can explore the island freely with a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure from the last point of embarkation, and a negative antigen test result on the day of arrival (day 0).
  • It is mandatory to have a COVID-19 insurance health cover and a proof of accommodation in Mauritius (printed copy of welcome letter from family or hotel booking). (Mauritian citizens, resident permit holders and occupational permit holders are exempted)
  • For hotel stays, a mandatory antigen test is required on arrival at the hotel (day 0) and again on day 5 of the stay.
  • Travellers staying in other types of accommodation (villas, bungalows, guest houses, B&Bs or at home) will be required to take a PCR test on arrival at the airport (day 0). They will be required to do a self-administered antigen test on day 5 of their stay. They can explore the island after receiving a negative result from their PCR test on day 0.

Unvaccinated travellers

  • Unvaccinated travellers must present a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours prior to departure from the last point of embarkation.
  • They must book a 14-night quarantine stay in an official quarantine hotel, including meals and transfers. A list of approved hotels is available on https://mauritiusnow.com/where-to-stay-in-mauritius/ for bookings
  • It is mandatory to have a COVID-19 insurance health cover. (Mauritian citizens, resident permit holders and occupational permit holders are exempted)
  • They will be required to stay in their hotel room for 14 nights and meals will be delivered to their room
  • They will have a PCR test on arrival (day 0), on day 7 and on day 14 of their stay
  • After a negative PCR test on day 14, they can freely explore the island 

5. You must fill in the Passenger Locator Form (Health forms) before or during your flight to Mauritius.  Please hand over the form to the Ministry of Health and Wellness counters upon your arrival.  To save time, you may fill in this form online here, with all the required personal information, following which a PDF document will be sent to your designated e-mail address. You will just have to print and sign the forms therein before your travel.

6. Please check whether you are required to meet other requirements as imposed by your country of departure for travelling to Mauritius. 

All passengers arriving from Rodrigues should be fully vaccinated (except for medical emergency cases).

All passengers arriving from France must meet the travel requirements listed on the French Ministry of Interior website. A check of the supporting documents will be made in France before departure. Please note that this does not apply to passengers in transit at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

All passengers (vaccinated and unvaccinated) arriving from Reunion should provide a compelling reason to travel. Please refer to the list of compelling reasons here.


Information on approved vaccines and PCR tests

a/ Approved vaccines for Mauritius are AstraZeneca (Covishield), Astra Zeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech Vaccine, Sinopharm, Sputnik and Sinovac- CoronaVac.

b/
Passengers must be fully vaccinated with a COVID vaccine recognised by the Mauritian Authorities.  If a second dose of a vaccine is required to be fully vaccinated, this must be administered at least 14 days before arrival. For the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the single injection should be made at least 28 days before arrival.

c/ Persons who have recovered from Covid-19 must provide an official document showing proof of Covid-19 infection and must have had a post-infection vaccination 14 days prior to travel (28 days for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine)


d/
Mixed vaccination is approved upon proof of  vaccination of both doses.

e/ Passengers under 18 years of age are currently exempted from vaccination. However, they will need to undergo a PCR test.

f/ Vaccinated travellers may stay for a minimum of 2 days in Mauritius and will be transferred directly from the hotel to the airport through a secure corridor for their return flight.

g/ If a traveller is tested positive at the airport or during his stay, he will be admitted to a dedicated quarantine hotel if he is asymptomatic or in a hospital if he is symptomatic.

Transit through Mauritius

  •  All passengers (vaccinated and unvaccinated) whose transfer flight is on the same calendar day can stay in the terminal and no PCR test is required by the Mauritian Authorities.  Nevertheless, passengers should comply with any requirements of COVID 19 tests as imposed by the authorities of their final destination.
  • For overnight transfer/transit in Mauritius, a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure of their flight for Mauritius is required for both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers. Unvaccinated guests will be transferred by an authorized operator to an authorized quarantine hotel; a reservation is necessary and the list of quarantine hotels is available here. Vaccinated Passengers can book any other hotel.  

Transit through Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Mauritius

  • If you are transiting through Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, you must go to the boarding counter as soon as possible (opening 2 hours before flight departure) to check the health formalities to be able to board our flight. Passengers marked "Ready to Fly" on their boarding pass must also present themselves as soon as possible at the boarding counter.


At the airport of departure

  • With all the health safety and precautionary measures in place, the check-in and boarding processes are expected to take longer. Passengers are therefore advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to their scheduled flight departure time.
  • It is mandatory for all passengers to wear only surgical or N95/FFP2 masks. Please ensure that you carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your flight, from the time you reach the airport of departure to the time you leave SSR international airport. Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours.
  • Passengers will also be subject to temperature checks at the airport.


Baggage

Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket.

  • Cabin baggage is limited to one piece weighing not more than 7 kg.
  • Note that no single baggage weighing more than 32 kg will be accepted at check in.
  • Should you be a Kestrelflyer Gold or Silver cardholder, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20 kg on presentation of your membership card.

 

Hygiene protocol on board

Passengers are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board.

  • Used masks should not be left in seat pockets, on the seats or anywhere else in the cabin. Same should be disposed of in the lavatory waste bins only, or be kept in your bag.
  • To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your cabin baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items.

  • C-LAB - 15% discount on RT-PCR and antigen tests
  • NOVALAB - 15% discount on RT-PCR and antigen tests

  • Clinique de Grand Baie, Grand Bay - 20% discount on RT-PCR and antigen tests

Passengers must present their Air Mauritius ticket (starting with “239”) at any of the Covid-19 collection centres.

General notes

  • Please check in at SSR International airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Only passengers with a valid ticket will be allowed within Hall B of the departure area using door 14.
  • Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers with special needs can be accompanied inside the departure area.

Travel exigencies and required documents

  • Kindly check that you have complied with all mandatory visa and travel documents for your travel.
  • Travellers whose final destination is Madagascar will be required to fill in the enclosed Letter of Undertaking (Lettre d'engagement Madagascar) before they travel to Madagascar. 
  • All travellers above 5 years of age must provide proof of a negative PCR Covid-19 test carried out within 72 hours prior embarkation.
  • All passengers will undergo another PCR test on arrival at the Antananarivo Ivato airport and whilst awaiting the result of this test, the passenger will be confined at a designated hotel, and will only be allowed to move freely in the country if the test is negative.  The result of the airport PCR test will be delivered between 24 to 48 hours after taking the test. The PCR test at the airport is at the cost of the passenger, EUR 25 or equivalent in MGA and is payable at the airport.
  • A confirmed booking at one of the approved hotels by the Malagasy authorities must be presented at check-in. The list is available here.. An initial 24 hours booking may be effected and can be extended to 48 hours up to the time the airport PCR test results are available.
  • The cost of the designated transport to the hotel is also at the cost of the passenger, and is approximately EUR 2 and payable to the transport operator.

Arrival

  • All Passengers will be subjected to temperature control upon arrival in Madagascar.
  • The completed letter of engagement and negative PCR test results must be submitted to the Health Officials and Immigration Officers upon arrival.

Eligibility for travel

Effective from 9 June, the movement of travellers between France and foreign countries will resume under terms and conditions that will vary according to the health status of these countries and the vaccination status of travellers.

Countries have been classified accordingly based on health indicators. The lists of countries may be updated as the epidemic situation evolves.

Travel requirements have been relaxed for persons who have been fully vaccinated with a European Medical Agency approved vaccination. Please consult the Government website for more information.

General notes

Travel documents

1. Kindly check that you have complied with all mandatory documents (visa, accommodation, etc.) for your travel.  Information on visa requirements is available on the France visa website.

2. All passengers must complete the Passenger Locator Form available at the following address https://app.euplf.eu/#/ . The form should be filled in as soon as the seat number is allocated, before the flight.

3. Please respect the health requirements requested by the French authorities. Travel requirements will vary according to country your category and status of vaccination.  Please check the country category before travelling. 

Note: Passengers aged 12 years old or older arriving from United Kingdom and who are not presenting a proof of a complete vaccination should register at https://passager.serveureos.org prior to boarding.

Red List countries (including Mauritius)

  1. Vaccinated passengers

      1. Proof of complete vaccination status.
      2. Sworn Statement attesting to the absence of symptoms of covid-19 infection and contact with a confirmed case of covid-19.
      3. The certificate of a negative COVID 19 PCR or negative antigen test carried out less than 48 hours before departure.

    Unvaccinated passengers

    1. Compelling reason to travel to France. The list of compelling reasons Red list countries is specified in the travel certificate issued by the Ministry of the Interior.
    2. The certificate of a negative COVID 19 PCR or negative antigen test carried out less than 48 hours before departure.
    3. Sworn Statement attesting to the absence of symptoms of covid-19 infection and contact with a confirmed case of covid-19.
    4. Possible biological testing on arrival
    5. Mandatory 10 day quarantine


Note: With regard to COVID-19 PCR and antigen tests:

  • The only valid antigenic tests which can be presented are those allowing the detection of the N protein of SARS-CoV-2.

  • Minors aged 12 years and above are subject to the same rules as adults.  All unvaccinated minors (12 years or more), accompanying vaccinated adult passengers, must have negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test results, carried out as per country category.

Exemptions: Children below 12 years old are not required to take the COVID‑19 PCR or antigen test.

Vaccination

Only vaccines authorized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) i.e. Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Moderna (Spikevax), AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covishield and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) or those whose composition and manufacturing process are recognised as similar to the authorised vaccines by the National Agency for the safety of medicines and health products, i.e. AstraZeneca (Covishield), R-Covi (R-Pharm Laboratory) and Vaccin Covid-19 (Fiocruz Laboratory) will be accepted.  WHO-approved vaccines may also be accepted subject to a booster dose of a mRNA vaccine.  Please see acceptance criteria below:

  • At least 28 days have elapsed since the first dose of Janssen vaccine, or
  • At least 7 days have elapsed since the second vaccine dose of AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria or Covishield), Moderna (Spikevax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), R-Covi (R-Pharm Laboratory)  or Vaccin Covid-19  (Fiocruz Laboratory), or
  • At least 7 days have elapsed since the first vaccine dose of AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria or Covishield), Moderna (Spikevax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), R-Covi (R-Pharm Laboratory)  or Vaccin Covid-19  (Fiocruz Laboratory) and a proof of previous infection with Covid-19. (only one dose is necessary), or
  • WHO approved vaccines: 2 doses of a WHO-approved vaccine (e.g. Sinopharm or Sinovac-Coronavac or Covaxin-Bharat Biotech)) + 1 dose of a mRNA vaccine (e.g. Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) or Moderna (Spikevax).  At least 7 days should have elapsed since the administration of the complementary mRNA dose. 
  • Requirements applicable to passengers presenting a proof of complete vaccination shall also apply to minors accompanying one or more adult passengers presenting such proof.
  • A certificate of recovery corresponds to the presentation of the result of a biological examination of the virological screening carried out more than 11 days and less than six months before the flight, which concludes to a Covid-19 contamination.

Transit and connecting flights

  • Passengers in transit/transfer through Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to travel to other destinations (excluding French territories) are not required to complete the sworn statement.  
  • Passengers in transit/transfer through Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to travel to other destinations should comply with any requirements of COVID 19 tests imposed by the authorities of their final destination.
  • If you are in transit/transfer in Paris and travelling onward, please ensure that your luggage is checked-in to your final destination as you will not be able to exit the transit area. 

Pets

Pets (AVIH) are accepted at check in with all appropriate documents.

Travel exigencies and required documents

  • Passengers aged 5 years and older, including transit passengers, must present a digital Covid-19 certificate showing a negative PCR test result obtained within 96 hours prior to departure, and a code proving they have uploaded it on PanBIOS for verification prior to departure. The medical certificate must be in English.

    Passengers whose medical certificates have expired due to the transit time will be subject to a test for Covid-19 at their own cost on arrival at a recognised facility. Please note that the antigen test facility is available at the Airport Trade Centre at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO).

  • Passengers must complete the Travelers Health Surveillance Form online at https://ears.health.go.ke/airline_registration/ 
    Passengers must hold a QR code they received by e-mail showing they have completed the travellers Health Surveillance Form and present the e-mail at check-in.
  • Passengers must complete a Passenger Locator Form during their flight to Kenya.

Please note that passengers who do not fulfil the above requirements will be denied boarding.

Note on Approved Vaccines

Approved vaccines for Mauritius are AstraZeneca (Covishield), Astra Zeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm, Sputnik and Sinovac- CoronaVac.

Travel exigencies

  • Only fully vaccinated (also includes Booster Dose) passengers except for minors will be allowed to travel to Rodrigues.
  • All passengers will have to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) five to seven days prior to boarding the flight. The test could be effected in a flu clinic or a private clinic. The RAT result will have to be presented at the airport prior to boarding.
  • All passengers will have to undergo a PCR test within 24 hours before boarding the flight to Rodrigues either at a private clinic or at the Airport (if performing PCR test at the airport, the passenger should reach the airport at least six hours prior to departure).

Note: The PCR test at the airport will be charged to Mauritian citizens at cost price or at subsidised price by the Ministry of Finance. Foreigners would have to pay for the PCR test.

However, Rodriguan students, patients and those going on official visits to Rodrigues will be exempted from payment of PCR test at the airport.

  • Only passengers with negative PCR results will be allowed to embark.
  • It is mandatory for all passengers to wear a surgical mask at all times.
  • Body temperature checks will be carried-out for both departing and arriving passengers at SSR International Airport and at Plaine Corail Airport by the health authorities.
  • Any passenger having body temperature above 37.8 degrees Celcius and/or presenting any symptoms of Covid 19, will not be allowed to travel.
  • All incoming passengers will be subjected to seven days’ mandatory in-room quarantine upon arrival in Rodrigues in designated hotels at their cost except for:
  • Patients and relatives referred to Mauritius for further medical treatment by the Commission for Health
  • Post-secondary students having completed or henceforth following online courses (subject to confirmation from Commission for Vocational Training)
  • Any other cases as may be recommended by a Committee set up by the Executive Council
  • All passengers must present a Reservation Voucher in a quarantine establishment in Rodrigues at airport check-in in Mauritius.
  • Reservation should be made on www.myrodrigues.travel.
  • All passengers will be quarantined in-room for a period of 7 days:
  • A PCR test will be performed on Day 7
  • All negative cases will be released
  • Positive cases for COVID-19 will be transferred to the Treatment Centre at Mont Lubin for a minimum period of 10 days
  • Contact cases will remain quarantined for a further period of 7 days, PCR test will be repeated on Day 14
  • Indeterminate cases will remain quarantined as required.
  • The cost of PCR tests during quarantine is already included in the quarantine package

Note:

All passengers travelling from Rodrigues to Mauritius should be fully vaccinated (except for medical emergency cases).


Sanitary hygiene on board

  • You are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board. Kindly dispose of used surgical masks in the lavatory bin or keep them in your own bag.
  • We encourage you to travel with a hand sanitiser in quantities of 100ml or less for use throughout your journey.


Baggage Allowance

To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your Cabin Baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as personal laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items. For cabin baggage, the total allowable number of pieces per person is one, with a weight not exceeding 5 kg.

Your entitlement for checked baggage is 15kg.

Due to weight limitations on ATR-72 aircraft, the additional baggage allowance of 8 Kgs to Kestrelflyer Gold card holders & 5 Kgs to Kestrelflyer Silver card holders does not apply on flights to / from Rodrigues until further notice.

Important notice

As from 04 December 2021, all travellers from Mauritius, (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) will have to justify a compelling reason and provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test to travel. The list of compelling reasons is available here.


As of November 29, 2021 and in the context of the prevailing sanitary situation, pre-boarding tests have been reinstated for all travellers to Reunion, including those originating from France. Please read through our sections below. For more information please visit

Eligibility for travel

As from 09 June 2021, travel requirements were relaxed for persons who have been fully vaccinated with a European Medical Agency (EMA) approved vaccination, or with vaccines whose composition and manufacturing process are recognised as similar to the authorised vaccines by the National Agency for the safety of medicines and health products. Countries have been classified accordingly, based on health indicators. The lists of countries may be updated as the epidemic situation evolves. Classification of countries
  • French Nationals fully vaccinated with an EMA approved vaccine or with vaccines whose composition and manufacturing process are recognised as similar to the authorised vaccines by the National Agency for the safety of medicines and health products, and with a complete vaccination schedule, will not need a compelling reason to travel to Réunion Island.
  • Unvaccinated passengers and those originating from red zone countries would still require compelling reasons to travel to Reunion Island.

VACCINATION

Only vaccines authorized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) i.e. Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Moderna (Spikevax), AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) or those whose composition and manufacturing process are recognised as similar to the authorised vaccines by the National Agency for the safety of medicines and health products, i.e. AstraZeneca (Covishield), R-Covi (R-Pharm Laboratory) and Vaccin Covid-19 (Fiocruz Laboratory) will be accepted be accepted.  WHO-approved vaccines may also be accepted subject to a booster dose of a mRNA vaccine.  Please see acceptance criteria below:

  • At least 28 days have elapsed since the first dose of Janssen vaccine, or
  • At least 7 days have elapsed since the second vaccine dose of AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria or Covishield), Moderna (Spikevax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), R-Covi (R-Pharm Laboratory)  or Vaccin Covid-19  (Fiocruz Laboratory), or
  • At least 7 days have elapsed since the first vaccine dose of AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria or Covishield), Moderna (Spikevax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), R-Covi (R-Pharm Laboratory)  or Vaccin Covid-19  (Fiocruz Laboratory) and a proof of previous infection with Covid-19. (only one dose is necessary).
  • Mixed vaccination: 2 doses of a WHO-approved vaccine (e.g. Sinopharm or Sinovac-Coronavac or Covaxin-Bharat Biotech) + 1 dose of a mRNA vaccine (e.g. Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) or Moderna (Spikevax).  At least 7 days should have elapsed since the administration of the complementary mRNA dose. 
The provisions applicable to passengers presenting proof of a complete vaccination plan also apply to minors (aged 12 and over) accompanying an adult passenger or passengers with such proof.

A certificate of recovery corresponds to the presentation of the result of a biological examination of virological screening carried out more than eleven days and less than six months before the flight, concluding that it has contamination by Covid-19. 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Kindly check that you have complied with all mandatory visa and travel documents for your travel.  For more information on visa requirements and eligibility to travel, please consult the French Embassy.

Additional documents will be required by travellers as follows:

1. As from 4 December 2021, all vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers from Mauritius travelling to Réunion Island must fill in a Travel Certificate (certificate relating to air travel and compelling reasons) and hold supporting documents proving that they are travelling for family, health or professional reasons that cannot be postponed.

2. ANTIGEN AND PCR TESTS 

From Mauritius (Vaccinated and Unvaccinated travellers)

  • RT-PCR test or antigen test of less than 24 hours
  • All passengers will have to undergo an antigen test on arrival. (results will be available about 20 minutes later).
  • Passengers will have to undergo a quarantine and will be subject to health checks:
    • In the event of a negative result: Quarantine of 10 days under surveillance (accommodation chosen by the person concerned)
    • In the event of a positive result: 10 days of  mandatory quarantine under  surveillance in an accommodation centre 
 

For passengers to Reunion via Mauritius

  • RT-PCR test of less than 24 hours
  • Passengers should provide a Compelling reason to travel. This does not apply for vaccinated passengers arriving from countries listed as Green.
  • Mandatory Covid-19 test on arrival (Results will be available in 20 minutes)
    • In the event of a negative result: Quarantine of 10 days under surveillance (accommodation chosen by the person concerned). This does not apply for passengers arriving from countries listed as Green.
    • If positive, the passenger will have to undergo mandatory quarantine of 10 days at a centre of accommodation which will be at the cost of the traveller. This applies for all passengers.

3. All passengers are required to hold a sworn statement (Attestation sur l’honneur) confirming that they do not have covid-19 and have not been in contact with an individual that has tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 14 days. For minors, the sworn statements should be signed by their legal representative.

4. All passengers should fill in the health form set up by the ARS for contact tracing. The form should be filled online at https://suivi.arslareunion-covid19.re/fr.

The traveller then will receive a QR code through SMS or an email inviting them to download their receipt 48 hours before flight departure.

The supporting document must be printed or downloaded to a mobile phone and must be presented to the check-in staff when departing from Mauritius.

5. Vaccinated travellers should present a proof of complete vaccination against Covid 19.

Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers with special needs can be accompanied inside the departure area.

It is mandatory for all passengers over the age of 5 to wear only surgical masks from the time they reach SSR International airport to the time they leave the airport at destination which includes boarding, the entire flight and deplaning. Please note that passengers not complying with these sanitary measures imposed by the relevant authorities will be denied boarding. Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours.

Sanitary hygiene on board

You are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board. Used masks should not be left in seat pockets, on the seats and anywhere else in the cabin. Same should be disposed of in lavatory waste bins only or be kept in your bag.

Baggage allowance

Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket.

Should you be a Kestrelflyer Gold or Silver cardholder, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20kgs on presentation of your valid membership card.

Note that no single baggage weighing more than 32 Kgs will be accepted at check in.

Transit and connecting flights

If you are in transit and travelling onward, please ensure that your luggage is checked-in to your final destination as you will not be able to exit the transit area.

Eligibility for travel

  • Since 01st October 2020, South African borders are open to international travel, with exceptions for travel from high risk countries. The list is available on the Home Affairs website: www.dha.gov.za .

Travel to and from Mauritius is permitted.

  • Travelers from high risk countries who intend to travel to South Africa require permission from the Minister of Home Affairs and must fall in the following categories: business travelers, holders of critical skills visas, investors and people on international mission in sports, arts, culture and science. These travelers must direct email requests to:Covid19BusinessTravel@dha.gov.za, supported by a copy of passport and/or temporary residence visa; proof of business activities to be undertaken in the Republic; proof of travel itinerary; and proof of address or accommodation in the Republic. However, South African citizens, South African Permanent Residents and long-term visa holders from high risk countries do not require the permission from the Minister of Home Affairs.

Travel requirements for passengers travelling to South Africa

  1. Travellers will need to present a negative COVID-19 test result not older than 72 hours from time of departure, from an accredited laboratory, and in line with the World Health Organisation requirements.  This negative result is mandatory and will be requested at check-in at SSR International airport and upon arrival in South Africa by the Health Authorities.  Children below the age of 5 years are exempted from COVID-19 PCR test.

  2. All Passengers must complete the Traveller Health Questionnaire and remit same to Port Health Officials upon arrival.

  3. Travellers are encouraged to download the COVID Alert South Africa mobile app from the following website: https://sacoronavirus.co.za/covidalert/  so that they are able to monitor and minimise their risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

  4. Travelers must hold a proof of accommodation address in South Africa, in case they are required to self-quarantine at the time of arrival.

  • Passengers will also be subject to temperature checks at the airport.

Arrival

  • Travelers will need to present the negative COVID-19 test results not older than 72 hours from time of departure, to Health Officials, upon arrival in South Africa.

  • The completed Traveller Health Questionnaire must be handed to Port Health Officials upon arrival.
  • All travelers will be subjected to COVID-19 screening on arrival.

Those who present COVID-19 symptoms which include elevated body temperatures and flu-like symptoms, will be required to take a COVID-19 test which will be at the traveler’s cost. Should the test results come back positive, the traveler will be subjected to mandatory quarantine, which will also be paid for by the traveler.

Latest update: 

As from 4am GMT 7 January 2022, the pre-departure testing requirement is removed for fully vaccinated travellers. The fully vaccinated rules also apply to children aged 17 and under, and people who are unable to have a vaccination due to medical reasons. The rules for people who do not qualify as fully vaccinated for travel to England will remain the same.

After 4am, Sunday 9 January, fully vaccinated passengers arriving in England can choose to take a lateral flow test instead of a PCR test after they arrive in England.

It is important that you complete your Passenger Locator Form, otherwise you will be denied boarding.

Essential information to enter England from overseas

All persons arriving in the UK must fill in a passenger locator form up to 48 hours before arrival. You must declare all countries you have visited in the 10 days before arrival.

Before departure check if any of the countries you have visited are on the red list.

If you have visited a country on the red list you must book a managed quarantine hotel. You can only enter England if you are a British or Irish National, or you have residence rights in the UK. You must enter through a designated port of arrival.

If you have not visited any countries on the red list, check if you qualify as fully vaccinated.

If you qualify as fully vaccinated you must book a test to take on or before day 2.

If you do not qualify as fully vaccinated you must:

These measures apply to all persons (including UK nationals and residents) arriving in the UK from outside the common travel area comprising the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands. The British Overseas Territories are not in the common travel area. Public health requirements may vary depending upon in which nation of the UK you are staying.

Failure to comply with these measures is a criminal offence and you could be fined. There are a limited set of exemptions from these measures. Check the list of exemptions carefully. You may be fined if you fraudulently claim an exemption.

Proof of a negative Covid-19 test result

EU and UK citizens: Use the EU Digital Covid Certificate or paper format.

Non EU and UK Citizens: A printed document, an email or text message.

All details must include:

a.      Name – must match name on travel documents

b.      Date of birth or age

c.       The result of the test

d.      The date the test sample was collected or received by the test provider

e.      The name of the test provider and their contact details

f.       Confirmation of the device used for the test, or that the test was a PCR

Failure to provide test results and required travel documents will result in a denied boarding. Please refer to the sections below.

Travel requirements

Kindly check that you have complied with all mandatory visa and travel documents for your travel, and the travel requirements at your final destination.

The requirements for travel are laid out in the Government of India’s Guidelines for International Arrivals (30 Nov. 2021) and the Order issued by the Government of Maharashtra dated 02 December 21.

  • The Indian Government requires that all travelers submit a Self-Declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal https://www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration  at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel, giving last 14 days travel details. A printed copy must be kept with the traveller at all times, to be  presented to the Check-in Officer at SSR International Airport and to the airport health staff upon arrival.  Please ensure that your mobile number is correct on the form.
  • Passengers are also required to upload a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report on the portal. This test should have been conducted within 72 hrs prior to undertaking the journey. Each passenger shall also submit a declaration with respect to authenticity of the report and will be liable for criminal prosecution, if found otherwise.

The negative PCR test report must be presented at Check-in. 

  • Passengers are required to fill the Health Declaration Form. The Form can be downloaded here.
  • You are required to download the application Aarogya Setu on your personal device. For more information kindly consult the following link https://aarogyasetu.gov.in/

  • Passengers travelling to India via Dubai are subjected to additional requirements.

On arrival in India, passengers need to abide by the following measures:

Travellers from Mauritius and countries considered as Risk

  • All passengers arriving from MRU, will have to undergo mandatory RTPCR test and wait at the airport for the result. The standard RTPCR will cost INR 500, and results will be available in 6 to 8 hours. The Rapid RTPCR will cost INR 1,975 and results will be available in one hour. Passengers will have to  bear the cost of the RTPCR test.
  • If tested negative they will follow home quarantine for 7 days, re-test on the 8th day of arrival and upload the results on Air Suvidha online portal.  If negative, further self-monitor of their health for next 7 days.  However, if a traveller is tested positive, they will be transferred to a separate facility as per Protocol.
  • Passengers with domestic connections will be able take their onward flights after obtaining a negative RTPCR result.

Pre-Booking of RT PCR tests

It is mandatory for all passengers to pre-register for their RT-PCR  test on arriving at Mumbai.  The payment for these tests can be made in advance or in Mumbai. There are three labs available and passengers can pre-book their RTPCR / Rapid PCR test at the following weblinks:

Note:

  • Children under 5 years of age are exempted from both pre- and post-arrival testing. However, if found symptomatic for COVID-19 on arrival or during home quarantine period, they shall undergo testing and treated as per protocol.
  • Medical doctors returning on the same flight are exempted from quarantine
Passengers should complete the Common Lab Registration Form prior to arrival in Mumbai Airport.

At SSR International Airport/Departure

Please check in at SSR International airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Only passengers with a valid ticket will be allowed within Hall B of the departure area using door 14.

Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers with special needs can be accompanied inside the departure area.

It is mandatory for all passengers wear a surgical mask from the time they reach SSR International airport to the time they leave the airport at destination which includes boarding, during the entire flight and at deplaning. Please note that passengers not complying with these sanitary measures imposed by the relevant authorities will be denied boarding. Two surgical masks and one face shield will be handed over to you at check-in.

Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket. Cabin baggage is limited to one piece weighing not more than 7 kg. Note that no single baggage weighing more than 32 Kg will be accepted at check in.

Should you be a Gold or Silver Kestrelflyer, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20 kg on presentation of your valid membership card.
