‘Connect and Protect’ focuses on the Mauritius Cuckoo-shrike, an endemic bird.

The Mauritius Cuckoo-shrike (Lalage typica), unique to the island, inhabits native forests and feeds on insects and fruits. With a population of around 1,000 individuals, this endemic passerine is listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (ICUN), highlighting the island’s fragile biodiversity. Males have vivid coloration, whilst females are more muted for camouflage.
