Do your bags exceed the free baggage allowance shown on your ticket? At Air Mauritius, we help you make sure that no bags are left behind.

 

We understand that some well-loved items from home, or precious mementos from your trips, simply cannot be left behind. For an extra charge, we can accommodate your excess baggage in our hold so that you can travel with all you need on your flight.

  • If your baggage dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 300cm, we request you to make prior arrangements for the baggage to be carried as cargo. 

  • For Johannesburg airport, conveyor belts will only allow a 200 cm limitFor any excess, we request you to make prior arrangements for the same to be carried as cargo.

  • If the free baggage entitlement on the ticket is 1 piece and customer buys 1 additional piece, the rate will be as per 1st additional bag.

  • If the free baggage entitlement is more than 1 piece, the rate will be as per 2nd and more additional bag.

  • If another airline is involved in the journey, the other airline's excess baggage policy may apply depending on the itinerary.

How to purchase extra baggage?

If your baggage weight and/or dimensions exceed the standard allowance, other charges may apply.

The below rates apply for any piece of baggage weighing more than 23 kg and less than 32 kg, in economy class for purchase at the counter.

  • If another airline is involved in the journey, the other airline excess baggage policy may apply depending on itinerary.

  • To / from transatlantic destinations, the transatlantic airline baggage charges will be applied.
  • Multiple excess baggage charges will apply for baggage that violates more than oneof the above rules.

Effective as from 01st June 2025

 

Is your bag bigger than 158 cm but within 300 cm? At Air Mauritius, we can fit oversized baggage in our hold, albeit at an extra charge, so you can travel with flexibility.  

 

You can transport baggage with dimensions exceeding 158 cm (height + width + length > 158 cm), as long as the dimensions do not exceed 300 cm.

If the baggage dimension in Checked Baggage is exceeded, an oversized baggage charge of EUR 325 is to be applied on all routes provided they meet the below specification.

With our island hub playing host to beautiful beaches that tempt surfers, your surfboards are welcome on Air Mauritius flights!

It’s not surfing or golf that gets you going but another sport instead? Air Mauritius endeavours to help you bring along the sports equipment of your choice, so you can enjoy your island experience to the fullest.  

Sporting equipment other than those mentioned, (Surf, Kitesurf, Bodysurf, Windsurf boards, longboards/ Golf Equipment/ Scuba Equipment and Hunting Trophies) is included in the passenger baggage allowance provided it meets the below specifications.
