The below rates apply for any piece of baggage weighing more than 23 kg and less than 32 kg, in Economy class.

• Not applicable for travel between Mauritius and Rodrigues.

• If another airline is involved in the journey, the other airline excess baggage policy may apply depending on itinerary.

• To Mauritius, pending the deployment of an automated process, for interline routings, the rules / rates of the operating company checking the baggage are applicable.

• To / from transatlantic destinations, the transatlantic airline baggage charges will be applied.

• Rate applicable per piece over and above other applicable baggage charges.

Is your bag bigger than 158 cm but within 300 cm? At Air Mauritius, we can fit oversized baggage in our hold, albeit at an extra charge, so you can travel with flexibility.  

You can transport baggage with dimensions exceeding 158 cm (height + width + length > 158 cm), as long as the dimensions do not exceed 300 cm.

If the baggage dimension in Checked Baggage is exceeded, an oversized baggage charge of EUR 325 is to be applied on all routes provided they meet the below specification.

• *On flights that are operated by ATR aircraft, the length of the baggage should not exceed 180 cm.

• For any excess in dimensions, we request to make prior arrangements for same to be carried as cargo.

• For Johannesburg Airport, conveyor belts will only allow a 200 cm limit. 

• To Mauritius, pending the deployment of an automated process, for interline routings, the rules/rates of the operating company checking the baggage are applicable.

• To/from transatlantic destinations, the transatlantic airline baggage charges will be applied.

Surf, Kitesurf, Bodysurf, Windsurf boards, and Long boards

With our island hub playing host to beautiful beaches that tempt surfers, your surfboards are welcome on Air Mauritius flights!

The first equipment is free of charge provided it meets the below specifications.

• *For South Africa, conveyor belts will only allow a 200 cm limit. 

• **On flights that are operated by ATR aircraft, the length of the equipment should not exceed 180 cm.

• For any excess, we request you to make prior arrangements for the same to be carried as cargo.

• Excess weight amount and excess piece amount cumulate.

We are happy to carry a golf bag containing only golf equipment.

Sporting equipment other than those mentioned, (Surf, Kitesurf, Bodysurf, Windsurf boards, longboards/ Golf Equipment/ Scuba Equipment and Hunting Trophies) is included in the passenger baggage allowance provided it meets the below specifications.
