Book your flight
Please ensure that you arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure time so we can provide you with the best possible service.
You can check in at our check in counters. Our staff will assist you through immigration and boarding.
We offer priority boarding for passengers who require special assistance, thus enabling you to board and seat comfortably before the remaining passengers. We will make a pre-boarding announcement accordingly.
Our caring crew will be there to assist visually or hearing-impaired guests to their seats. We take immense pride in providing exceptional care and support for our guests.
On our A350-900 and A330-900 aircraft, we have installed on-board wheelchairs to ensure your comfort and ease of movement during the flight. We extend this care to our visually or hearing-impaired customers as well.
Our dedicated cabin crew members will assist you setting up the on-board wheelchair and ensuring your safe navigation along the aircraft's aisle.
If you find that you cannot use the on-board wheelchair due to your disability, please do inform us at the time of booking.
It is important to note that while we offer extensive assistance, we do not provide help with eating, drinking, administering medication, or being lifted. For these specific needs, we recommend traveling with a companion.
We've also taken great care in equipping our aircraft with facilities to accommodate passengers with disabilities.
Many of our seats feature foldable armrests to facilitate seating. Our door handles, locks, grab bars, soap dispensers, faucets, flush controls, and call buttons are designed to be easily operable with minimal effort. Most of our aircraft washrooms are fully accessible to passengers using wheelchairs on board.
Upon arriving at your destination, to ensure your utmost convenience and comfort, we kindly request that you allow all other passengers to disembark from the aircraft before you do.
Rest assured your wheelchair and/or other personal mobility devices will be safely delivered to you at the gate or at the baggage delivery point, as per local airport procedures.
Prior to departure, Air Mauritius can arrange various forms of assistance, depending on the needs of individual travellers.
We provide special services to our passengers who are visually and hearing impaired.
Passengers who are blind or who have severely impaired vision may be accepted without a medical certificate. Unaccompanied blind passengers will be escorted to/from the aircraft. It is important that customers who are temporarily visually impaired seek medical approval prior to travel. Unaccompanied hearing-impaired passengers will be given all the assistance required during checking and boarding.
If you wish to take your guide dog, please ensure you include this in your request. Please note that guide dogs have to travel in the hold.
Let us know the type of assistance you need at least 72 hours before your flight. Please contact our 24/7 Reservation team at [email protected].
We understand that some of our guests may benefit from traveling with a companion who can assist along the journey and in case of an emergency, particularly during aircraft evacuations.
Do you require a travel companion? Who can travel as a companion? Please read through our procedures and guidelines for travel companions.
We genuinely care about the well-being of disabled or reduced-mobility children, and we believe that, under specific conditions, they can travel unaccompanied with confidence. These conditions include:
The child is physically capable of actively participating in an aircraft evacuation.
The child can understand and follow safety instructions.
The child can independently manage eating and drinking.
The child doesn't require medication or assistance in the restroom.
It is essential to carefully assess whether a child needs a travel companion to ensure their safety and comfort throughout their journey. After all, your child's comfort and security are our joint priority.

We want to make your journey as comfortable as possible. For guests who require a wheelchair, please do observe the 72 hours notice period before your flight departure so that we can assist you in the best possible way.
Depending on your specific needs, we can arrange the following:
If you're unable to walk long distances but can use stairs and walk to your seat, please use the code WCHR when booking.
If you are unable to walk long distances or use stairs but can walk to your seat, please use the code WCHS when booking.
If you are entirely immobile (WCHC), we kindly request that guests in this category be accompanied by a travel companion who can assist with their physiological needs during the flight. In such cases, a Medical Certificate of Fitness for Air Travel (MEDIF) should be filled out by your attending physician and signed by the airline doctor.
For any questions or more information about wheelchair assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via our Call Centre. Keep in mind that advance notice is crucial for us to make the necessary arrangements to ensure your comfort and safety.
Please follow the guidelines below to ensure a hassle-free journey:
1. We will transport your wheelchair or personal mobility device, whether it's manual or electric, or other assistive devices like canes, crutches, walkers, or mobility scooters as checked luggage at no extra cost. Please let us know all your requirements at the time of booking, but don't forget to inform us at least 72 hours before your flight ([email protected])
2. If your device is oversized or heavy, we strongly recommend to make prior arrangements with the relevant airport authorities.
3. For manual wheelchairs, in most airports, you can keep it with you up to the aircraft opening or boarding gate, provided there is no direct walkway to the aircraft. You may also have it delivered to you upon exiting the aircraft. If you have a lengthy stopover, you can reclaim your wheelchair, or we will provide assistance during your stopover. To help us ensure the best transport conditions, at the time of booking, please specify your wheelchair's type, dimensions, weight, and whether it is foldable.
4. If you are traveling with an electric wheelchair, please note that you will need to check it in as baggage. You will not be able to reclaim it during a long stopover or upon exiting the aircraft. You will have to collect your electric wheelchair at the baggage delivery point. We strongly recommend requesting electric wheelchair transport at least 72 hours before your flight ([email protected]).This is critical as otherwise there is a risk that we have to decline the transportation if your wheelchair's battery type does not allow for safe transport.
5. Guidelines for carriage of battery powered wheelchairs:
Please adhere to the following guidelines when transporting battery-powered wheelchairs to comply with safety regulations:
Read carefully the section on items allowed in checked baggage but prohibited in hand baggage for more information on how to pack and carry wheelchair batteries.
We understand that travelling with reduced mobility might require some additional items to ensure your comfort and convenience. That is why Air Mauritius is pleased to provide generous baggage allowance in addition to the standard allowance.
