How big is Mauritius?
Mauritius is a small island nation in the Indian Ocean but one packed with a variety of rich experiences in a beautiful environment. It is located around 1,200 miles off the southeast of the African coast and is 2,030 square kilometres in size. Its capital city is Port Louis.
Mauritius is an easy island to drive around being just over 60km in length and less than 50km across, so it’s manageable to get each of its four corners in one day, although you’re advised to break up your visit. The major highways are the M1 and M2 with other roads following the natural topography of mountains and coastal stretches of the island.
