Do your bags exceed the free baggage allowance shown on your ticket? At Air Mauritius, we help you make sure that no bags are left behind.
We understand that some well-loved items from home, or precious mementos from your trips, simply cannot be left behind. For an extra charge, we can accommodate your excess baggage in our hold so that you can travel with all you need on your flight.
Below rates are for Air Mauritius (MK) operated routes only.
If your baggage dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 300cm, we request you to make prior arrangements for the baggage to be carried as cargo.
For Johannesburg airport, conveyor belts will only allow a 200 cm limit. For any excess, we request you to make prior arrangements for the same to be carried as cargo.
If the free baggage entitlement on the ticket is 1 piece and customer buys 1 additional piece, the rate will be as per 1st additional bag.
If the free baggage entitlement is more than 1 piece, the rate will be as per 2nd and more additional bag.
If another airline is involved in the journey, the other airline's excess baggage policy may apply depending on the itinerary.

The excess baggage rate for travel between Mauritius and Rodrigues (where the weight is on the ticket) is MUR 250 per kg. A maximum weight of 23 kg is allowed per bag.

You can transport baggage with dimensions exceeding 158 cm (height + width + length > 158 cm), as long as the dimensions do not exceed 300 cm.
If the baggage dimension in Checked Baggage is exceeded, an oversized baggage charge of EUR 325 is to be applied on all routes provided they meet the below specification.

Sport and other equipment are included in free baggage allowance and any equipment additional to the free baggage allowance should be charged separately.
Passengers can now include sport or special equipment as part of their free baggage allowance
Example: If a passenger is allowed 2 pieces, one can be for personal items and the other for sport/special equipment.
Short Haul: Mauritius - Rodrigues / Reunion / Antananarivo / Johannesburg.
Medium Haul: Mauritius - Cape Town / Bombay / Delhi / Chennai / Kuala Lumpur / Perth.
Long Haul: Mauritius - Paris / London Gatwick / Geneva or combination of 2 short / medium - haul sectors (Example, Johannesburg - Mauritius - Perth).
